The Better Business Bureau Serving Western Michigan has been working for over 80 years for an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other. BBB helps people find and recommend businesses, brands, and charities they can trust in Western Michigan. BBB does this by setting standards for marketplace trust, encouraging and supporting best practices by engaging with and educating consumers and businesses, celebrating marketplace role models, calling out and addressing substandard marketplace behavior, and creating a community of trustworthy businesses and charities.

One of the primary services of the BBB is maintaining a database to identify trustworthy businesses and charitable organizations. Consumers are able to view profiles and accreditation status, read real reviews of vetted, verified customers of businesses, and share your experience to help both businesses and consumers grow in trust. Businesses can support their commitment to trustworthy business practices by applying for Accreditation. Charities can commit to the Wise Giving Alliance Charity Accountability Standards, and apply for Accreditation. They can let donors know they have met these standards by becoming an Accredited Charity Seal-holder. BBB also provides fair resolution and reporting of complaints dealing with marketplace trust for the benefit of businesses and consumers. They help the community learn to recognize the signs of less than ethical business practices through educational programming, news, and media releases. Finally, BBB helps businesses learn how to build stronger, more trusting relationships with their customers.
